The streaming cameras you see were installed, setup and maintained all by Holiday Island. We paid a lot to get the line installed from the shoreline to the island and then fought with Spectrum for weeks to get the service hooked up on their end during the summer of 2021.  Then learning OBS Streaming software to be able to stream online for "free" was the next challenge.
Check out our progression to what we bring you today.

Our First Live Stream

On 9/14/21 we first streamed LIVE on Facebook, a remote pc did all the work of processing the video and relaying it to FB. This was exciting for us and although the video quality was poor this started the quest of trying to produce live videos for us to be able to watch and share with friends.

At this time we would connect directly to this camera as there was not an NVR installed, which was purchased finally and installed in 2022.

Second Camera

The very first integration of the second camera view we were sharing online started on 9/27/22 almost 2 weeks after going online! Dave and Mike worked very hard getting cabling run and updating everything to make 2 camera stream at the same time. This was the limit though, as we were still streaming the video remotely from Syracuse connecting back to the island. This is noticeable in the blips and green scrambles here and there during the playback. We were no where near being "stabile" during these streaming days, sometimes it would go hours or far less and crash.

Our Very First YouTube LIVE Stream

1/26/22 we streamed Live to YouTube for the very first time with a new pc, still remotely streaming but the quality was better. We also figured out how to switch between cameras automatically giving a rotating view similar to what we do now with the 3 cameras.

Streaming away

We worked hard expanding our video infrastructure to include a streaming server with a massive cooled video card to handle the higher resolution and stop the blips. We stream 3 of the cameras we have on YouTube with many more all over the island for security with motion and human detection. Everything now is all battery backed up and can run without power for almost 4 hours without the grid.
